F. Ball Stopgap P141 is a high-performance acrylic primer designed to promote the adhesion of Stopgap levelling compounds to non-absorbent subfloors. Formulated with recycled uPVC particles, it dries to form a hard, textured surface that enhances the bond between the subfloor and smoothing compound.

Pigmented yellow for easy visual control during application, Stopgap P141 helps ensure complete and consistent coverage. It is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating systems and is particularly recommended when applying Stopgap 600 to non-absorbent substrates at thicknesses greater than 20mm.

Why Choose F. Ball Stopgap P141?

  • Designed specifically for non-absorbent subfloors.
  • Promotes excellent adhesion of Stopgap levelling compounds.
  • Contains recycled uPVC particles to create a textured bonding surface.
  • Yellow pigmentation provides visual control during application.
  • Suitable over normal underfloor heating installations.
  • Easy roller or brush application.
  • Suitable for domestic and commercial flooring projects.
  • Low odour, water-based acrylic formulation.

  • Existing waterproof surface membranes.
  • Other suitably prepared non-absorbent internal subfloors.
  • Domestic and commercial flooring installations.

Professional Advice

Stopgap P141 is our preferred primer whenever levelling over non-absorbent surfaces. The textured finish created by the recycled uPVC particles provides an excellent mechanical key for Stopgap smoothing compounds, helping to achieve a strong and reliable bond.

Always ensure the subfloor is clean, dry and free from contamination before priming, and follow the latest F. Ball Technical Data Sheet for application guidance.

Prepare Your Subfloor Like a Professional

Correct preparation is essential for a smooth, durable and long-lasting flooring installation.

1. Check for Moisture

Ensure the subfloor is dry and suitable for the flooring system being installed. Where moisture protection is required, apply an appropriate Liquid DPM before priming.

2. Prime the Surface

Apply Stopgap P141 evenly over the prepared non-absorbent substrate. The yellow colour helps ensure complete and consistent coverage across the entire floor.

3. Repair Damaged Areas

Repair surface defects using Stopgap Micro Rapid for feather edging and minor repairs, or Stopgap 400 Repair for deeper holes and damaged screeds.

4. Choose the Right Levelling Compound

Stopgap Fast-Track 30 – Ideal when speed is the priority.

Stopgap 700 Superflex – Flexible formulation for plywood and timber.

Stopgap 1200 Pro – Ideal for refurbishment work over suitable adhesive residues.

Stopgap 300 HD – Heavy-duty smoothing compound for demanding environments.
