Philip José Farmer had two great literary loves, Tarzan and Doc Savage. He wrote biographies, pastiches, and authorized novels about each and continually referenced both of his heroes throughout his career. In 2021, Meteor House published The Man Who Met Tarzan, a collection of Farmer’s articles, essays, letters, and speeches about Edgar Rice Burroughs and Tarzan. Now we discover Farmer’s writings about Doc (excluding the biography Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life and authorized novel Escape from Loki): essays, pastiches, and even a screen treatment for the second, unmade Doc Savage film! The pieces by Farmer include: - Writing Doc’s Biography - The Grant Robeson Papers - Savage Shadow - Doc Savage and the Cult of the Blue God (screen treatment for the second, unmade Doc film!) - Afterword to Doc Savage Omnibus #13  - The Monster on Hold (original proposed chapters and outline from 1983; not the full novel completed by Win Scott Eckert) - Doc Wildman’s Coat of Arms . . . plus more Doc-related ephemera from Farmer’s “Magic Filing Cabinet!”
