Nice long Blackhawk covers and stories continue, now drawn by John Cassone and Alex (Apartment 3G) Kotzky. Plus Death Patrol by Al Stahl, The Sniper by Vern Henkel, Atlantic Patrol and Secret War News by Fred Guardineer, and P.T. Boat and Private Dogtag. Fine wartime comics from Quality Group. Reed Crandall went into the service to fight in WWII, so the excellent John Cassone stepped in, whose work on Black Angel in Airboy Comics is some of the finest good-girl art in the Golden Age. Alex Kotzky was no slouch either -- he's already doing fine work early in his career. Kotzky was also working on Plastic Man, Dollman and other Quality heroes, working in the Eisner studio producing The Spirit Sunday sections, and doing a stint for prestige publisher Ziff-Davis in the early 1950s. He left comics for newspaper strips and his renowned Apartment 3-G featured superior artwork and good adventure and romance stories, starting in 1961 and running for thirty years!
