Lee Winslow Court was born in Somerville, MA in 1903 and is known for painting on Monhegan Island, ME and for his New England snow scenes. As an art student, he trained at the Massachusetts College of Art with such masters as Cyrus Dalin and Ernest Major, and in 1922 became a student of Aldro Hibbard’s. While he worked as an artistic designer for Filene’s Department Store for many years, he traveled all over New England, Ireland, and even in the Arctic. He was a member of Boston’s prestigious Copley Society, and according to his daughter was awarded its highest award: The John Singleton Copley Medal in 1981. This little book shares the story of Lee Court's lifelong commitment to his passion as a painter, starting in 1923. He loved nature and felt challenged and excited by the open-air beauty and possibilities it brought to his paintings. Paintings are chronology organized from page 49 - 52. Out of Print. Condition: Very Fine Minus. Discolored on back bottom corner from sticker.
