JOSEP PUIG I CADAFALCH
Josep Puig I Cadafalch arguably had the most significant impact on Barcelona's urban transformation in the early twentieth century, balancing his role as an architect caught between Modernism and Noucentisme with his pursuits as a historian and archaeologist focused on restoring Catalonia's historical and patrimonial identity. His keen understanding of urban planning was instrumental in shaping major developments like the Via Laietana and Plaรงa de Catalunya, driving the cityโs metropolitan growth. This volume offers a comprehensive biography along with a detailed chronology of his works and projects. Josep Puig i Cadafalch was born in 1867 in Matarรณ, near Barcelona. A Professor of Architecture at the Barcelona School and a practicing architect, he was also a politically active Catalonian nationalist. Puig i Cadalfach's art historical writings focused on Romanesque medieval architecture and resulted in numerous books. From 1942 until his death in 1956, in Barcelona, he was President of the Institut d'estudis Catalans. Out of Print. Condition: Very Fine/As New. In Shrink Wrap.
