Bona Quantum is a hard-elastic, one-component silane wood flooring adhesive designed for a wide range of bonded wood flooring installations.

It is particularly well suited to solid wood flooring, wide engineered boards and parquet where strong initial grab, excellent rib stability and resistance to timber movement are important. Its hard-elastic bond also helps reduce stress transferred between the flooring and the subfloor.

Why Choose Bona Quantum?

  • Strong initial grab for secure board placement
  • Excellent adhesive rib stability
  • Hard-elastic bond helps accommodate timber movement
  • Particularly suitable for solid and wide engineered flooring
  • Suitable for compatible underfloor heating systems
  • Can normally accept loads after approximately 24–48 hours
  • One-component product with no separate mixing required
  • Up to two years' shelf life when stored correctly and unopened

Suitable Flooring Types

Bona Quantum is suitable for bonding flooring including:

  • Wide engineered wood flooring
  • Solid wood boards
  • Engineered parquet flooring
  • Solid parquet and wood blocks
  • Mosaic parquet
  • Other dimensionally suitable wood flooring approved for bonded installation

When should you choose Bona Quantum?
Bona Quantum is our recommended Bona adhesive for solid wood flooring, wider engineered boards and more demanding installations. For standard engineered flooring up to approximately 190mm wide, Bona R848 may also be suitable.

Suitable Subfloors

Bona Quantum may be used on correctly assessed and prepared subfloors, including:

  • Cementitious screeds
  • Calcium sulphate screeds
  • Suitable timber subfloors
  • Suitable chipboard and wood-based panels
  • Compatible levelling compounds
  • Suitable tiled or metal substrates where Bona's preparation requirements are followed

On suitable absorbent substrates, Bona D501 may be used where additional priming or dust binding is required.

Where a moisture-control system is required, assess whether Bona R540 Primer/DPM is suitable for the particular subfloor and moisture condition.

Application Conditions

  • Air temperature: minimum 18°C
  • Subfloor temperature: minimum 15°C
  • With underfloor heating, subfloor temperature should not exceed 20°C during application
  • Relative humidity: maximum 70%
  • Allow the adhesive to reach the correct working temperature before use

Application

  1. Ensure the subfloor is dry, sound, clean, level and properly prepared.
  2. Confirm that moisture levels and site conditions are within the required limits.
  3. Select the correct notched flooring trowel for the flooring format.
  4. Spread the adhesive evenly across the prepared subfloor.
  5. Only apply as much adhesive as can be covered within the stated open time.
  6. Place the flooring firmly into the wet adhesive.
  7. Check regularly for sufficient adhesive transfer to the back of the flooring.
  8. Remove fresh adhesive contamination immediately using a suitable cleaning method.
  9. Avoid loading or heavily trafficking the floor until the adhesive has cured sufficiently.

Important: Always read the current Bona Technical Data Sheet and the flooring manufacturer's installation instructions before use. Product suitability, preparation requirements, application rates and curing times can vary according to flooring dimensions, substrate type, moisture conditions and site climate.
