Bona D501 Adhesive Primer is a solvent-free primer and dust binder designed to prepare suitable absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors before the installation of wood flooring using Bona silane adhesives.

Fast drying and easy to apply, Bona D501 helps improve adhesion, binds residual surface dust and can normally be overcoated with Bona silane adhesives after approximately one hour under normal site conditions.

Bona D501 is suitable for preparing correctly assessed subfloors including:

When should you use Bona D501?
Bona D501 is designed to improve adhesion and bind residual dust before applying Bona silane adhesives. Where moisture suppression is required, consider Bona R540 Primer & DPM instead.

Coverage and drying times are approximate and will vary depending on substrate porosity, temperature and site conditions.

Compatible Bona Adhesives

Once dry, Bona D501 can be used before a range of Bona silane adhesives, including:

  • Bona R848
  • Bona Quantum
  • Bona R848T

Application

  1. Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry and structurally sound.
  2. Remove loose dust, debris and contaminants.
  3. Apply Bona D501 evenly using a roller or brush.
  4. Allow the primer to dry fully before applying adhesive.
  5. Apply the selected Bona silane adhesive in accordance with its Technical Data Sheet.

Important: Bona D501 is an adhesion primer and dust binder. It is not a damp proof membrane. Where elevated subfloor moisture is present, assess whether Bona R540 Primer & DPM is the appropriate system before installation.
