Is there no shame? We have a Crypt-Keeper swipe from EC on the cover, no less, of #10. Mainstay Ace contributor Lou Cameron is here, with Atlas and Marvel Comics stalwart Gene Colan, as well as Chic Stone, covers by Jim McLaughlin, Avon Comics’ notorious Howard Larsen, a rare β€œAce” Baker cover, Lou Zansky, the bizarre Paul Gatusso, Blue Beetle artist Charles Nicholas, and DC’s own Mike Sekowsky. Read ’em and shake your head in pure astonishment. β€œAce” Baker is a name assigned to an unknown artist who did very good imitations of Matt Baker, and who might have been his brother but it’s never been proved. Lou Cameron was a mainstay at Ace, doing both covers and absolutely amazing stories at times. He was the subject of a recent book by Yoe Studios. He went on to draw The Time Machine as well as other major adaptations for Classics Illustrated. Mike Sekowsky of course was the first artist to draw Adam Strange, and kicked off the first issues of the Justice League of America. He probably has drawn almost every DC character of the 1960s. Gene Colan is best known for his amazing work on the early Daredevil after he took it over from Wally Wood, and on Iron Man, taking that series over from Don Heck. And his Tomb of Dracula is an icon of the 1970s.
